Quy Nhon named among best undiscovered places in Southeast Asia

If you are looking for a destination off the beaten track in Vietnam, this can be a very good suggestion.

The UK travel publisher Rough Guides has listed Quy Nhon in the central coast among the top nine authentic escapes in Southeast Asia.

A recent Rough Guides story said Southeast Asian destinations have often been stereotyped as one with noodle stands, grungy hostels and full moon parties.

But many places actually have their unique, undiscovered charm.

Quy Nhon is the capital town of Binh Dinh Province and fishing is its main industry, as you can see locals swinging along the coast in coracles to travel between boats.

The town is home to long sandy beaches which remain pristine thanks to few tourist arrivals, most of whom are locals.

Tourists can take a xe om (motorbike taxi) to a hilltop to the north of the town to visit Champa towers which were built between the 11th and 13th centuries. The spot also offers perfect view of the town’s unspoiled countryside.

Quy Nhon offers a wide range of cheap and fresh seafood that tourists can enjoy anytime of day.

There are flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City every day.

The list also recommended places with successful natural and historical preservation in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia.
